Native Turkanas carry a giant cross during mass at their village in Nariokotome, an arid desert area of northwest Kenya. The Turkana people are an ethnic group, traditionally semi-nomadic pastoralists, who reside in various areas in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Ethiopia. The Missionary Community of Saint Paul the Apostle (MCSPA) often provides free food, clothing, education and medical treatment for the locals in the area.
